This article introduces some, but not all, committees of the Faculty and University. A list of committees in in which we represent your interests is elsewhere.
Faculty #
The following committees are only responsible for our faculty. We are permanently represented by members in these committees.
Faculty council #
The faculty council is the highest decision-making body of the faculty. All important decisions that are made at the faculty go through this body. Approval in the faculty council is usually just a formality - there is hardly any discussion (of content). We represent you here with six elected members.
Studienkommission (Study Commission) #
The Study Commission discusses all topics relating to teaching, such as new study regulations or teaching evaluations. The Study Commission also carries out content-related work. Roughly speaking, this means that the Study Committee draws up the new study regulations and the Faculty Council then only decides on them. We represent you here with four representatives from different subjects.
Examination committee #
The examination committee decides on questions regarding the interpretation and application of examination regulations. This includes, among other things appeals against examination notifications or admission applications. The committee does not meet in public. We represent you here with an advisory member.
University #
The following committees are for the entire university. The committees usually include representatives of various student councils. Members of these committees are usually appointed by the legally constituted student government and not us as the student body of the TF. The constituted student body represents the students of the entire university. Members who are delegated by the student body therefore also represent the position of the constituted student body, i.e. all students.
The constituted student body also maintains a list of university committees to which students can be delegated . There are also Committees of the constituted student body , but we will not mention them here.
Selection committee for the Deutschlandstipendium #
The Deutschlandstipendium is, in addition to the the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes , one of the two major independent scholarship programs for students in Germany. The application of the selection criteria is relatively formalized. This means that rather abstract decisions are made in these committees. In other words, no concrete decisions are made regarding the funding of individuals. Instead, they tend to decide how the selection criteria are to be interpreted in marginal cases.
Student council (StuRa) #
The StuRa is the highest decision-making body of the constituted student body, the official student representation of the University of Freiburg. We, as the student council, represent you here as with several representatives.
Studierendenvorschlagsbudget-Gremium (SVB-Gremium) #
The student proposal budget (SVB) is the universities means for ensuring the quality of studies and teaching, which are allocated on the basis of student proposals. The allocation of these funds is divided into a centralized project competition and decentralized distribution to the departments. The SVB committee organizes and supervises the allocation.
Committee on Media Development and Practice #
Task of the Committee on Media Development and Practice is to discuss fundamental issues relating to the universities information infrastructure. The topics primarily include the Computer Center, the University Library and the Chief Information Officer (CIO).
Permanent Senate Commission on Academic Affairs #
The Permanent Senate Commission on Academic Affairs advises the Rectorate and the Senate on fundamental issues relating to studies and teaching.
SWFR representative assembly #
The SWFR Representative Assembly receives and discusses the annual report of the Managing Director and discusses it. The Representative Assembly is also a good opportunity to follow up on individual topics and to draw the SWFR’s attention to problems. The SWFR is responsible for several universities. Students from different universities are therefore also represented at the SWFR Representative Assembly.
SWFR Verwaltungsrat #
The SWFR Board of Directors has the task of monitoring and advising the management. Important decisions also require the approval of the Administrative Board. The student members of the Administrative Board are elected at the Representative Assembly.
